Weeding Words: Techniques to Tighten Your Manuscript Writing guru William Zinsser suggests that many first drafts contain so much excess verbiage that they should be cut by 50 percent. Cutting half of a manuscript is terrifying unless you know how to quickly tighten a draft in meaningful ways. This session will help you trim the fat by examining relevance, necessity, and word choice.
