This presentation invites attendees to explore various collaborations with authors as pathways to creating authentic writing engagements for K-12 students. The presenter will share her experiences with various partnerships from the perspective of both a teacher and a young adult author. Specific suggestions will be presented for classroom visits, school assemblies, writing workshops, author interviews, and young author conferences. Resources will include considerations, technology resources, curricular connections, procedures for locating and vetting authors, as well as advice for avoiding potential pitfalls and information about grants for funding such partnerships.
